Mothering

Mothering

” How do you follow the course of your life if you do not let it flow”.
Lao Tzu
My daughters birthday 25 the same age as I was when I had her the innocent young woman that I was I brought her home from the hospital with all the confidence of a seasoned mother my own mother looked on saying ” are you sure you don’t want help” I couldn’t possibly give my newborn to the care of another not even in the hospital I hid her in my bed not wanting her exposed to the nursery. My beautiful daughter was soon to be my right hand gal as we held on tight for a wild ride through exposure of a man I thought I knew her father, through the darkness of where addiction brings people. My innocence turned into wisdom my headstrong personality turned into courage my loving heart turned into fierce loyalty to my children’s safety and well being. I thank my four children for being my greatest teacher. I note to you all WE MADE IT!!!!!!!

Emotions

Emotions

” Emotions are like waves. Watch them disappear on the vast calm ocean”. Bhagavan Das
” The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.” Einstein.
I am forever humbled by my yoga path the moment I think that I have it something new surfaces and i have to go back to the basics of witnessing myself and the afflictions that disturb my peace and serenity. Yoga is a great teacher that we can always find comfort and strength. May we all give ourselves grace while we navigate our journey. Its good to be back …….
Thank you to all my followers …….
Namaste,
Jennifer

50 is Fabulous

50 is Fabulous

I believe that women get better as we age.Being a single mom of four i never bought into the myths that circled around me.I stood in my power and embraced my life. I found strengths in myself that i never knew existed. With each new discovery i embraced all that was bringing forth in my life. Knowing my body is changing and giving birth to a new wiser, confident, empowered woman i leaped into this new me. The hot flashes started and i’m embracing them. I named them “hotties” With everyone i take a moment to go inward and breathe and thank my body for the gift of knowing how to balance itself and give birth to a new me.With every change i see the gift. I use to look outside myself for validation and answers now i know it is all within.

HOPE

HOPE

” Some changes look negative on the surface, but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge”. Eckhart Tolle

As I enter the rehab I see a face that disappeared months before a girl that left in the night to the streets. She is back pregnant ..I embrace and look deep into her eyes so glad she is safe and ready to try to stay clean ..”HOPE”……As i start class there is a new girl with a 1 week newborn . She goes into asanas with such grace and beauty. I find out she is a former dancer . She shares after class her journey of in and out of jail for the last 3 years. She lights up inside sharing how she feels yoga will help her regain the feeling back in her legs that have nerve damage she feels from her drug use. We both look at her beautiful baby boy ” HOPE” for the future.

” Lord make me a instrument of your peace.”

Prayer of St. Francis. As i read this beautiful poem again i took the words into my heart as i was on my way to teach as a wellness coach in a woman’s recovery home. I promised the girls that we would have a pedicure party { since observing many were embarrassed of their feet on the yoga mat} I thought there was no better way to start to honor themselves. As I envisioned all the girls painting their nails there was another plan in store. They wanted me to paint all their nails. As i got down on the floor to serve and connect for we are all one. Even though i have not experienced addiction or jail i connect in heart with no judgment. As i juggle holding a crying newborn showing by example loving and nurturing. { The mom was young and thinking she was teaching a lesson not to hold her baby that was crying } I don’t know if i will make a difference in these lives but as i reflect on St. Francis poem , “For it is giving that we receive”, ” To be understood , as to understand; to be loved, as to love

“Yoga is synonymous with relationships. It is said that the way we respond to the practices reveals the way we respond to one another and life. The practices provide provide us with an opportunity for insight into the inner workings of our psyche, and leverage to pry open where we are closed off.” Bhavani
